MTF championship bouts

The Malta Taekwondo Federation (MTF) has just held its annual Kyorugi championships at the St Martin's College sports facilities.

A good number of athletes, representing local clubs, took part in sparing bouts regulated by a new set of rules introduced by the World Taekwondo Federation.

The bouts were from several categories from Pewees to senior level, with matching weight categories.

At the end of competition, MTF president Joseph Azzopardi addressed participants and hailed their fair play attitude and taekwondo spirit.

He also reserved a word of praise for the judging team and added that the sparring techniques displayed during the championships was of a good level in all categories.

Azzopardi and MTF technical board official Stephen Formosa then presented trophies to the winners.
