Carlo Ancelotti has warned his Chelsea players against the complacency that could allow the Premier League title to slip from their grasp.

Ancelotti's side go into their final game of the season against Wigan at Stamford Bridge on Sunday one point ahead of second placed Manchester United who host Stoke.

With home advantage and faced by opponents who have nothing left to play for this season, Chelsea are strong favourites to lift the title for the first time since 2006 and complete the first leg of a potential league and FA Cup double.

But, while Ancelotti acknowledges his team is in a strong position, he insists his players must maintain the high standards they have set throughout the campaign to avoid a shock late slip-up.

The Blues boss knows all about Wigan's threat having seen his team beaten at the DW Stadium when the two teams met earlier this season.

He said: "We are in a very good situation. We wanted to arrive at the end of the season with more points.

"We have one more, but we can decide our own destiny at our home ground, Stamford Bridge, and that is a good thing.

"We have to play one more game though, and nothing is decided yet. But we have a great opportunity and a great possibility because the team is fit, in good condition and has fantastic motivation for this game.

"We have to be ready, but we have to play for 90 minutes. We come to play this game, to try our best.

"They have a very good team and beat us in the last game where we played them, so we have to pay attention."

Last weekend's 2-0 victory at Liverpool ensured Chelsea go into the final day in pole position and Ancelotti insists he has no need to make any special preparations for this final decisive game.

"I saw my players focus during the week and they knew very well how important the game was. I didn’t say anything special," he said.

"This weekend is the same: to be champions, we have to play as we played against Stoke and against Liverpool.

"We have to maintain the same confidence in our play, the same determination, because nothing is decided.

"We have to pay a lot of attention. There are no more games. If we miss our chance now, there is no chance to recover."

Ancelotti is on the verge of winning the title in his first season in England after arriving at Stamford Bridge from AC Milan last year.

But he acknowledges Chelsea have endured difficult times on and off the pitch.

Defeats away from home appeared to expose weaknesses in his side's defence at the start of the campaign and then again ahead of the final run-in.

And a series of allegations about the private lives of skipper John Terry and left-back Ashley Cole diverted attention and ultimately prompted club owner Roman Abramovich to issue a stern warning against any member of staff who damaged the reputation of the club.

But Ancelotti believes his side's success has been achieved because of the players' ability to remain focused.

"This season, we had some problems but every team has a problem during the season," he said. "The most important thing is that, when the problems came, we were able to move on quickly.

"This season, really I didn't have strong problems to resolve. We had some difficulties, lost some games, and had difficult moments after the Manchester City and Inter defeats, but we moved on very quickly."

Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba, meanwhile, goes into the game with 26 league goals to his name - making him the Premier League's joint leading scorer with Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

But Ancelotti insists Drogba will not be given a helping hand in the race to land the Golden Boot should Chelsea be awarded a penalty against Wigan.

"Frank Lampard would take the penalty first," he said. "Second choice would be Drogba."
