Foreign Minister Tonio Borg will discuss investment promotion, illegal immigration and cooperation in education and cultural affairs when he meets French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner in Paris today.

France is Malta's second largest trading partner and Malta is host to 11 major French firms which employ more than 2,500 workers in Malta. In all, there are 213 companies registered in Malta with French shareholders.

A double taxation agreement between the two countries comes into force this year.

France over the past months took 95 migrants from Malta and has shown a readiness to offer more help.
