206 power cuts so far this year

There were 206 power cuts in various localities so far this year, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech has said in parliament.

He said these power cuts came about because of works, switching and faults.

Meanwhile, readers reported a long power cut yesterday evening in Zurrieq. Other readers reported a power cut in Birkirkara on Tuesday and a long evening power cut in Marsascala on Monday.

Not even 5 months, if this was written on the6th May!
That's just 125 days into the year.
Which means an average of 1.7 power-cuts per day!

J Martinelli can you elucidate us on what they do in other countries? Do they switch off except in certain circumstances? Do you think they switch off whole districts when they are connecting a new service or repairing a house service? Switch off is done only in major servicing, but seeing that we had so many switch offs we should not have any power failures because all the grid should be tip tip shouldn't it?

Actually, we blame Enemalta, not its engineers. Yet, we can't say all of those engineers are the best of the trade, considering Enemalta is still running without internal disputes (as far as I know).
