A total of 281 persons were taken to court in the past 10 years and accused of corruption of minors, Justice and Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici said in reply to a question in Parliament. 140 persons were convicted.

Asked about the punishment imposed by the courts following rape convictions, the minister said one person was jailed for six months, another for 13 months and two for 18 months. One was jailed for four years and one for 10 years.

Another person was fined €2,208 and jailed for 20 months.
