During the past months, readers have voiced their concerns about National Football League (NFL) games on ESPN America broadcast on Melita. Melita is happy to announce that as of April 30, ESPN America have started airing NFL coverage once again, meaning live games will be back on Melita for the start of the next season in August.
ESPN America have secured another four seasons of NFL coverage, kicking off later this year with over 100 live and as-live games per season, including the playoffs and Super Bowl. NFL fans can follow the entire NFL season only on Melita, right from season start in August through to the Super Bowl in February. Fans will also be able to watch live coverage of the regular season, playoffs, Super Bowl, Pro Bowl, the NFL Draft and between five to 10 hours per week of NFL network programming.
ESPN America is one of the most eagerly followed sports channels on Melita's XL package and covers live matches from the NHL, MLB and NCAA College Football and Basketball as well as ESPN's Nascar Now show, among others.
Besides live matches, NFL fans will also be given access to the latest news and reviews with NFL Game Day, NFL Countdown, NFL Total Access, NFL Films and ESPN's 13th Edition of SportsCenter, dedicated to the European fanbase airing weekdays at 8 a.m. and updated at 10.30 p.m.
ESPN America is broadcast to 23 million households in over 43 countries across Europe and was the first North American Sports dedicated sports channel in the United Kingdom when it launched in 2006. Through the ESPN America network, all Melita XL television subscribers have access to over 800 live and as-live sports events each year, including those from the National Hockey League, the National Football League, Major League Baseball and NCAA. As for football fans who are eagerly awaiting the 2010 FIFA World Cup matches, Melita will be broadcasting all 64 matches from the 2010 FIFA World Cup both in standard definition and high definition (HD) with English and Maltese commentary. All games featuring the Italian team will be accompanied by an Italian commentary.
