Eventhough prostitution is legal in about 28 countries it is against Gods laws. Maybe because of the bad economy prostitution is increasing. I think prostitution is degrading to women and against the bible. It is sad the women have to get to this point and sell their bodies. btw. I want to share a site that lets you state your opinions and you can win free gift cards. http://opinion.ezwingame.com/topics/should-prostitution-be-legal

Well maybe God can feed or pay their bills , if so why so much poverty and hunger. Lets get real and leave God out of it and think what it would have been like if it was you in such a situation. Prostitution is a means of living in most countries of the world, end of story Barbara . As for God well it seems he is dragging his feet in most issues concerning human affairs.

the two views are not necessarily opposed. denis catania rightly points out that residents may not be too happy of having prostitutes as neighbours. the solution might be to legalise prostitution which takes places within a certain distance from a built up area. of course, this does not mean that all other forms of prostitutin will end - black markets never do.

A lot more needs to be done in Gzira. The name and shame of Johns usually works great, especially with lawyers, doctors, politicians and married man. Video and or taking pictures of license plates and Johns walking into buildings know for prostitution. Seizure of properties that contribute to prostitution works great too. We want it out of Gzira. Any Mayor's out there who volunteer their town, village or city. Or legalize it and put it in non residential areas.

Do these people charge VAT for their services? If yes, they should declare their income & start paying tax. Arraigning them won't do a lot of good. Better some money fil-kaxxa ta' Malta to alleviate our DEJN! After all, they operate in the dark & so do not waste energy, except for their customers, of course. They should be given some credit on their W&E bills...

If prostitution is legalised and they have to start paying tax, the fee for their service, will obviously go up. Think, before you write!!

@ J the JOHN Debono but it would be safer for you and other Johns including the prostitutes and can be put in non residential areas. Besides they will be cheaper than a regular date, which at the end will save you money. STAY OUT OF GZIRA if you are looking for a hooker.

Thats exactly what hardship brings....so long as the government keeps dishing out policies that forces the masses into poverty, hence you find people sorting for any means of survival and to most prostitution is the only way out......

When our country will open its mind and some things such as prostitution will be made legal, then these people can practise a safe and clean job and no arraingnments will be made and our police would concentrate on more important things such as investigating corruption and solving a murder case there and then.....until then we have to keep on having these fat and unpleasant looking birds in our street. And before you splatter some non sense keep in mind that not everyone has a partner or is married!

If there was ever an exercise in futility this most certainly is it. Prostitution is the oldest profession and as long as there is a market, there would be suppliers. This hypocritical society, that moralizes on shops opening on so-called holy days and censures adult publications for an adult market, cannot come to terms with its own soul and the 21st century. In Malta "is-suq isuq" is subject to easy moralistic qualifications!
Lets legalize prostitution, lets subject market providers to monthly medical tests and society will benefit.
The hypocritical State, uses its POLICE, to persecute sex prostitution. BUT, in actual fact, there are other forms of prostitution going on all over the place. Bootlicking up to the boss, the bully or some power baron and miming satisfaction to obligation sex are extremely common cases of prostitution and much lewder than sex prostitution.
I believe that sex prostitutes are providers of a service and as long as there is a market for the service, no police control can ever eradicate, reduce or control it. It is all waste of taxpayers money that can be more profitably employed elsewhere.

As one passes by, one would think it legal in Gzira.

I know what you mean, and you are right.
But....
Does one deduce that these women are prostitutes from what they wear?
If you ask me, one can see worse, FAR worse, on a Saturday night out in Paceville....
Sad, isn't it?

The oldest profession in the book under pressure.
So sad, that some need the money desperately, some need the service (which in effect takes a lot of pressure off society and lowers the risk of rape) - but at least the gang of youths causing havoc have been caught so that is something really useful.

I think there should be a little district in Malta where one can pay for a prostitute and where this profession will be legal including paying tax; why shouldn't be so?
