Għaxaq producer wins fireworks festival

Għaxaq's Santa Marija Fireworks Factory was declared the winner of the eighth international fireworks festival held between Thursday and Friday over Grand Harbour.

La Stella Fireworks Factory of Gudja placed second and the St Bartholomew Fireworks Factory of Għargħur third, the Culture Parliamentary Secretariat has announced.

Six local fireworks factories took part in the competition. Adjudication was carried out by a panel of three foreign experts in pyrotechnics, chaired by Joseph Theuma, secretary to the Malta Pyrotechnics Association.

The assessment was based on quality of colours produced, quality of shells, originality of the product and overall presentation.
