Noble hails debutant Sammut

Crusaders coach Brian Noble paid tribute to new signing Jarrod Sammut after the Malta dual international marked his Super League debut with a try in his side's shock 19-0 win over Bradford at Murrayfield.

The former Penrith Panthers utility-back put the finishing touches to an impressive performance by the Wrexham team with the final try of the opening match of the Magic Weekend in Edinburgh.

Sammut's first taste of Super League ended a six-month lay-off due to ankle surgery and came despite the effects of jet lag.

"He got off the plane at 10 o'clock yesterday (Friday) but it seems like he's been part of the team all season," said Noble. "He can play. He's got the X-factor."
