Around 1,000 new books, including 100 Melitensia titles, are on show at the Gozo Public Library in Vajringa Street, Victoria, to mark World Book Day. During the inauguration of the exhibition, books were presented to people who most borrowed books from any branch library in Gozo.

Prizes were also given to primary and secondary school students who took part in a competition on literary works by Mgr. Anton Saliba.

Donations were also made to the Public Library. They included dissertations by Carmen Grima, Jonathan Saliba and Robert Xerri and new books by the Spanish Embassy of Spain, Literacy Centre/Education Office, Gozo, Merlin Library, Audio Visual Centre Ltd and Mireva Bookshop.

Musical interludes were provided by the students of Għarb primary school, under the leadership of Helga Vella. A new book entitled Malta at War, Vol.4, by John Mizzi was also launched.

The exhibition will remain open until Saturday.
