Għaxaq's Sta Marija Fireworks Factory win festival

Sta Marija Fireworks Factory of Għaxaq has won the eighth international fireworks festival held over Grand Harbour on Thursday and yesterday.

La Stella Fireworks Factory of Gudja were placed second and the St Bartholomew Fireworks Factory of Għargħur, third, the Parliamentary Secretariat of Culture and the Malta Tourism Authority said.

Six local fireworks factories took part in this competition. The adjudication was carried out by a panel of three foreign experts in pyrotechnics, chaired by Joseph Theuma, secretary to the Malta Pyrotechnics Association.

The adjudication was based on quality of colours produced, quality of shells, originality of the product, and the overall presentation.

If I am not mistaken, this is the 2nd. time in a row that the St. Mary Fireworks Factory of Ghaxaq won this honour after winning last year as well! Congratulations to the Ghaxqin participants for this victory and to other participants!!! I hope that I will attend to the St. Mary fireworks show in Ghaxaq on the 14th. of August 2010!!!
