Scissors Sisters and Kelis for Isle of MTV
The Isle of MTV concert, which will be held in Malta on June 30, will feature top American band Scissors Sisters and superstar Kelis, according to the MTV website.
The Isle of MTV concert will be held for the fourth time on the granaries in Floriana.
The website describes Isle of MTV as one of the most important events for the network. Event producer Bruce Gillmer said the Isle of MTV was a unique opportunity for the young across Europe to enjoy some of the current top artistes, an experience made even better by the 'colours and climate' of Malta.
Other artistes for the concert line-up will be announced shortly.
Parliamentary Secretary Mario de Marco said that as in previous editions, Isle of MTV would have all the ingredients which made past editions of Isle of MTV such a success, including good music, a grand live show, an appreciative, enthusiastic crowd and perfect organisation - and it will be free of charge.
The Scissors Sisters are expected to give the Malta concert a taste of the new album "Night Work" as well as "Don't feel like dancing".
Kelis's performance is expected to feature "Milkshake" and "Acapella".
Last year's edition features, among others, Lady Gaga and The Black Eyed Peas.

Tad-dahk tara kummenti bhal "gibu lil xxxxx jew lil xxxxx" jew "ahna rridu lil" etc etc.
Tahsbu li l-organizzaturi ha jaghtu kashom? Kieku kulhadd kellu jhalli kummenti bhal dawk, kieku nsemmu l-kantanti u l-bands kollha li jezistu :)
U tinsewx li facli tghid 'gib lil dak u lill-iehor'... imma min jaf kemm cajt biex isibu l-granet meta jistaw, u kocc fatturi ohra.

Personally I don't like the artists chosen thus far. However, one can't say they should bring the people like Jay Z, Beyonce, Usher , Rihanna, Neyo, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys.. cause it is not as simple. Probably the stipulated budget doesn't make it possible to have more then one super star for EG Black Eyed Peas..
Concert is free to attend, but it's not free for the organisers to bring along the artists, it costs them big big money! And of course, artists would have their own things happen and might not be available.
Still, I am disappointed personally for the choice thus far.

People, this is a free even (taxpayers or not) and if I were in charge I would send some forgettable uninspiring artist with no experience in the music industry and not someone as well known as Kelis and Scissor Sisters. What's wrong with you people? You should be glad and not an ungrateful lot grumbling like little children when their parents don't buy them toys. Grow up and have fun at Isle of MTV!

Just because many of the commenters here are saying they've never heard of them does not mean they are not well known, nor they they are lame. People expected big names and I am sure many would agree when I say Kelis is a big name. Everyone remembers Milshake, Trick Me, maybe even Bossy during the time of her mainstream success.
Oh, and please don't even bring Justin Bieber into question; he's just a little boy overwhelmed by screaming twelve year old fangirls. As for Rihanna, well the line-up has not been announced completely though I doubt they would bring her. Mind you, it would be awesome if they do.
Lady GaGa has already been here two times; she won't come back. That would have been beyond awesome as I am a big fan of hers (I've even bought tickets to one of her Monster Ball Tour concerts in Milano for next December).
Maybe Black Eyed Peas will return to Isle of MTV which should be great since their album The E.N.D. has become more successful since last summer when they had just re-emerged after a long hiatus.

There are thousands of good artists, so if 2 of them are scheduled to come, it is quite useless and disgusting that some of you keep wishing that their top preferences will perform instead, and that all others are crap. 2 well-known artists are coming, and that's that. Some people ought to learn appreciate what they have instead of complaining about what they don't get.
Maybe those who are unfamiliar with these 2 artists should just you-tube them up, and update themselves with their music. I would PAY to see Kelis perform her singles.

FYI... Scissor sisters rank amongst the most successful of bands in the last 5-6 years. Suffice to say that they have won 3 Brit awards since 2005. Their single "I don't feel like dancing" was a huge hit when it came out, so much so that it was by far the most successful single of that year not only in the UK but also most European countries and Australia. Their music has been termed by critics as the most exciting and original in the past years. The only country of note where they have never been that much successful is the US, ironically their country of origin...sadly, from the comments I'm reading here, Malta doesn't seem to be very far off. Have you listened to some of their stuff before writing them off?Incidentally, for those who have dismissed this band as relic of the past, the band is releasing its much awaited 3rd album at the end of the coming June, coinciding with the isle of MTV concert. This album will be preceeded by a new single out soon by the name of "fire with fire". We should count ourselves lucky.. Malta please...wake up and smell the coffee!!!!!!

Free is Free so I will not complain too much, but the lineup surely shows that this is a free event. If u want to go for a REAL music festival then you should visit Glastonbury Festival in the UK, personally I would rather pay and attend a proper event rather then go and get smashed and squashed in a sweaty crowd simply because it's a free event.
A single good event would have a line up much better then 5 Isle of MTV's put together, not to mention the atmosphere and the vibe that such events create.
However I must complain that too much attention goes towards foreign musicians and the local talent get second or least attention for the Isle of MTV, I think it should be the other way round and the local talent should be given more priority and exposure at least for this event, once a year.

Għal dawk kollha li ma jafux min huma Scissors Sisters jew Kelis u qegħdin jeqirdu kemm jifilħu bħas-soltu, għandkom bżonn tinżlu mill-qamar u taġġornaw naqra ruħkom għax ma tgħidx li dawn l-artisti daħlu lbieraħ fix-xena mużikali dinjija ...!

I love it when someone ignorantly points out how many "FREE" things we get.. like FREE healthcare and FREE schooling.
When the gov pays for these things, they're not paying it from THEIR personal pockets, remember? It came from ours!
Nothing is free. Get rid of this stupid idea.

Of course its not free (indirectly everyone is paying for it).But expecting to go watch Robbie Williams or whoever without directly paying (better saying it this wa so as not please you) for it is just a pipe dream.

By any chance could you try bringing singers who are a hit nowadays like Justin Bieber, Cherly Cole, Rihanna or Lady Gaga? I know that Gaga was here last year but she's top of the list at the moment after she has released the new song 'telephone'! Is there a possibility?

Scissor Sisters are big! And well, Kelis is not as popular as she was a few years ago,but she's growing again.
And well, Lady Gaga came before anyone knew who she was, and look where she is now! So stop complaining - it's a free concert for heaven's sake!

I'm kinda surprised about this first two artists. I Didn't tell that they are coming. But guys, if you don't like them it doesn't mean that they are not good or popular. I don't like Scissors Sisters that much, but I know that they are big all over the world. BOTH Kelis and Scissors are well known!

Seriously this choice sucks. I wonder how many people will be attracted to attend this event.
I mean ok Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas are quite a hit but Scissor Sistors? Kind of old??
You should have thought about bringing some famous bands like Tokio Hotel, Greenday or some really good singer like Adam Lambert...now those would really bring Malta some good publicity!
