Archbishop to visit Maltese communities in New York, Toronto, Detroit

Archbishop Paul Cremona is to visit the Maltese commuities in Toronto, Detroit, and New York in a trip which starts tomorrow.

The Curia said that in Toronto he will call on Auxiliary William McGrattan and will visit Maltese patients at Runnymede hospital. On Sunday, he will celebrate Mass at St Paul Appostle Church, marking the centenary of the formation of the St Paul Missionary Society in Malta. He will also meet Archbishop Allen Vigneron.

In New York, he will concelebrate Mass in St Patrick’s Cathedral with Archbishop Timothy Dolan and meet Nuncio Celestino Migliore.

Mgr Cremona said that during his visit he wished to share the successes and hardships experienced by the Maltese emigrants. Furthermore, he wished to encourage them to renew their faith and share the message which Pope Benedict gave to the Maltese people.

Mgr Cremona returns on May 20.
