Kazakhstan's Alexander Vinokourov won the Liege-Bastogne-Liege Classic for the second time in his career yesterday.

The Astana rider, who completed a doping ban last July, dropped Russian Alexandr Kolobnev 500 metres from the line.

Spain's Alejandro Valverde was third.

"It's a great feeling for me to win here again," Vinokourov, the 2005 champion, told reporters.

"It's been a very difficult time but I've come through and I've won again."
