GWU Youths back Bianca Zammit
The GWU's Youth section have expressed solidarity with Bianca Zammit, the Maltese woman shot and injured during a Palestinian protest in Gaza on Saturday.
They said that the 'brutality' used by the Israeli forces against the Palestinians showed how they wanted to deny the Palestinians the possibility of a viable Palestinian state.
The youths also backed the diplomatic protest made by the Maltese government.

I don’t call for Israel’s destruction - Actually it’s not about destruction, we should rather argue how many Jews should live in Israel?
A land for a population of 4 Millions can never take a population of 20 Millions.
Occupation is the key word in Middle East conflict. Simple and plain
For centuries,Jews lived among other confessions in full harmony all over the Middle. After the Jews were thrown out from Europe (by Hitler) they immigrated to the Middle East in 1948. Then, the whole disaster began when Israel used the Holocaust to turn the Zionist’s dream for a Jew state and let world wide Jews to permanently settle in Palestine.
This is according the Old Testament a fiction based on fable. In fact you will not find the word Jew in the first eleven books of the Bible. The first time Jews are mentioned in the Bible, is in II Kings 16:6 (and then only in translations revised in the eighteenth century)
Since its illegal birth, Israel evasive all UN resolution.
Now the BIG question, is Syria part of Israel? Is Lebanon part of Israel? What are the borders of Israel?

@ Raymond Camilleri - there are volunteers and volunteers. The first type belt themselves with TNT explosives and go massacring the innocent people. The others go and help poor and innocent people. Off course our bianchi in neither the first nor the last type of volunteers,. She's just a meddler in other people's affairs. Israel is a democratic country even though it is being constantly attacked by palestinian terrorists who even kill their own people.

Sirs,
Most if not all modern democracies are based on bloody history, terrorism and injustice. What about the USA model? or Europe model of democracy? While the former was established on blood, terrorism created by squatter and pillagering of other people’s land and annihilation of original inhabitants (Indian Rouge) the latter have had pools of blood and millions were killed. Same applicable on what’s today called ‘Israel’. Usually countries makes own army, in Israel’s case it was a unique incident in mankind history that an army creates a country. Giving the fact that Israel still a border less makes Israel a no country and a mere accident in History
If you think you living in a real clean democracy you are dwelling in illusion. Could you at please tell me why the Irish peoples NO VOTE was never respected and politicians are acted with Ireland as if nothing has happened? Actually, in terms of democracy I am seeing Europe approach to democracy is no different from Dr. Sant (referendum result) or Mr. Mugabi of Zimbabwe.

this girl was in the wrong field at the wrong time and on the wrong side of history. I dissociate my self from the Maltese Parliament's declaration of solidarity. These people dont speak for me. My solidarity goes to the Israelis who are continually being harassed by missiles coming from Gaza Strip. Where is the maltese parliament's declaration of neutrality in this case? Why dont these people condemn the consistent firing of missiles into Israel by palestinian terrorists? .

Well said Mr Mario Attard there is no tension against bordering countries of Israel except with Palestine, Palestinians from when they are young are reared in hate against Israelis so how can there ever be hope with them. A peaceful agreement can only be reached by DIPLOMACY not by useless marches and throwing of rocks by children. Who owns the land is Complex everyone agrees this is not an invation as Martin Cassar portrayed it, its more complex .A way to solution may come when there is a strong democratic Palestinian goverment ONLY by diplomatic talks altough for now it looks light years away.

I feel sorry yet glad that a Maltese woman is making news on this subject. I wish her the best of health and hope to God that she will continue to do what she feels right about this subject.
I live with this type of news everyday since I married my husband and his family and friends Palestinians.
Isreal has occupied Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West bank since 1948, for what purpose * to eventually bury themselves on the land that they say THEIR GOD gave them " and Their Blood will rise to their horses neck *. It's in their Tora, they are justifying everything that was written - how else they can convince their people that they are right and justice is with them!!!!!.
"Do unto others what others did unto you" famous words to justify their means of occupation.
Building walls, killing families, killing their economy, making believe they are the oppressed.
The Palestinian youths and their younger sibblings are lost with no proper upbringing of education, work, and family life. What else can a young man or young girl do but to fight and keep fighting till hopefully someone out-there does something about it!!!!!

@Robert Callus. History did not start in 1946. Remember the diaspora imposed by the Roman Empire that chased the Jews away from their land?

For some people it is only money, money, money and that's it, others volunteer their time for free. Israel is an occupying force...whatever Malcolm Seychell says...and please stopusing the silly and ridiculous Berlusconi tactic of calling eveyone a communist!

What a stupid attitude by almost all of the institutions of our country. If communists fanatics want to go and risk their life its their business and not ours. I am sure if we lived with terrorists near us we would do just the same as Izrael does if not worse.

Were the American terrorists when defending their land from the English?
Were the French terrorists when defending their land from the German?
Were the Irish terrorists defending their land from the English?
Were we terrorists defending our lands from the Turks or French?
Occupation is the condition for whatever comes next!
The victims of the victims of the holocausts are just doing the same defending their land. As regards terrorists acts, Israel or more precisely (Zionist gang of robbers) tops the list.

@Martin
You make it sound as if the Palestinians are beyond reproach. Both sides may have blood on their hands but then again it seems that Palestine - like most of the neighboring Arab countries - do not want peace but the eradication (and genocide) of all that is Jewish. In my opinion actions such as the one carried out by Ms. Zammit and comments such as yours serve nothing other than to fuel anti-Semitism and hatred. It seems that we too quickly forget the lessons that history has taught us.

Perhaps you would, but I would never shoot at a woman "armed" only with a video camera.

@Joseph Calleja I agree with you peace in the Middle East will take place only when oil comes to an end, and this may take maximum 30 years. Thus the security guard (Israel) which is appointed and supported by West to protect the fuel station (the Gulf) will lose their Job and Israel’s role in the region would evaporate along with the Jew-state dream and this would automatically turn the dream to Jew-wish. Only then the victims of the victims of the Holocausts will get their pillaged lands back.

Israel has succeeded to live in peace with the Egyptians and Jordanians. I believe that Israel wants to live in peace with the other neighbours too. But will these neighbours ever accept the nation of Israel? Well, it seems they won't. So, Israel has no other choice but to defend itself from these unpeaceful neighbours.

As can be seen very clearly from this map, Israel is the thief and occupier of Palestine not its neighbour: http://ideafix7.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/palestinian_land_loss_map.jpg

I sincerely believe that Ms Zammit knew the consequences before joining the protest. Violence by either party in the Middle East is not new and people get hurt all the time, this time it happened to be a Maltese citizen fighting for the rights of others. Those who play with mud end up with dirty hands. Peace will come to the Middle East ONLY if others stop meddling in their affairs. Hope Ms Zammit a speedy recovery.

Based on what the timesofmalta.com reported the world including Israel should thank Bianca for using a camera to protest instead of bombs.

@ Denis Catania
Based on what the Mr. Catania says the world including Israel should also condemn the USA for killing hundreds of thousands by nuclear bombs and equally condemn Hitler for killing millions of Jews
