Thousands register interest for HD - Melita

Thousands of avid television viewers have already registered their interest for Melita's high definition television service, which will be launched next month in time for the 2010 Fifa World Cup, the communications company said.

Since Melita announced it will be making HD available in Malta for the first time ever, the company has received very encouraging feedback from customers wanting to be among the first to experience HD quality.

On launch, Melita's HD content will cover not only football and sports but will offer a wide-ranging variety of topics to suit all viewers - from lifestyle to music, kids, documentaries, films and more. Melita is launching 10 dedicated HD channels, including prestigious names like Discovery HD Showcase and MTVN HD among others, besides a dedicated sports channel broadcasting the World Cup in HD in collaboration with TVM.

Melita is also launching a new highly advanced set-top box which will allow customers to pause, record and rewind live television at will, make use of a completely newly designed electronic programme guide and a fully-fledged media centre which includes a 320Gb in-built hard disk and USB inputs.
