The Malta rugby national team wrapped up its Division 2B campaign in style this afternoon when it eased past Latvia 27-10 at the Hibs Stadium.

Thomas Holloway put the hosts on their way with an eighth minute try that was converted by O’Brien.

Minutes later Holloway again stole possession and served James O’Obrien who easily clinched Malta's second try and stretched their lead to 12-0.

The Latvians tried to hit back and managed to bridge the gap to 12-5 when they took full advantage of their pack power to breach home through Avdejevs Sergejs with Rankis Valters missing the conversion.

After the inverval the Maltese cliked into top gear scoring three tries through Oliver Sacco and Matthew Jarrett, with O’Brien adding a conversion and a penalty to seal a convincing 27-10 for Malta.

By virtue of this win Malta finished third in Division 2B with 16 points from eight matches.
