Grand Harbour ready to host Disney Magic's maiden call
Ship can take up to 2,700 passengers
Grand Harbour is all set to welcome the Disney Magic on her maiden call to Malta on Monday.
The 2,700-passenger cruise ship is due to berth in Valletta eight times as part of Disney Cruise Line's return to Europe for an unprecedented five-month season of Mediterranean and Northern European cruises.
Disney Magic has a classic ocean liner look on the outside, with a black hull, shining white top, and two red funnels, both adorned with Mickey heads.
Most modern ships only have one funnel, and this one is no different - one of the funnels is a dummy and houses the teen centre.
Keeping with the Mickey theme, the lifeboats are yellow (rather than the standard orange), making the overall look very Disney - black, white, red, and yellow. A glance at the bow makes people smile. The bow has intricate gold scroll-work much like classic tall ships of long ago. Mixed in with this elegant detail is Goofy, dangling from a rope and touching up the paint.
Homeporting in Barcelona, 10- and 11-night Mediterranean itineraries are sailing to Malta, Tunisia and Corsica for the first time, and returning to Naples, Civitavecchia and La Spezia in Italy and Villefranche in France.
As the ship transitions from the Mediterranean to the Baltic in June, Disney Cruise Line will offer two repositioning cruises from Barcelona to Dover, as well as a first-ever season of four, 12-night Baltic cruises, departing from Dover and sailing to Oslo, Copenhagen, Warnemunde, St Petersburg, Helsinki or Tallinn and Stockholm.
