Up-and-coming karting driver Gianluca Dingli, of BRM Virtu Ferries Racing Team, had a very busy weekend in Mellili, Sicily where he participated in a Rotax Max Class race from the regional championship. In the qualifying session, held on a wet Sunday morning, Dingli was ninth overall. In the pre-final race, Dingli delivered a fine performance charging up the field to fourth. In the final two laps, Dingli lost precious time after being pushed off track by another driver but the young Maltese recovered to finish sixth. In a statement, Dingli thanked all his sponsors and the fans who backed him during his racing weekend in Sicily.

Proset to Gianluca Dingli for his Great Performance, for those that dont know Gianluca Dingli he started in motorsports at a very young age and has taken Karting very professional while still studying and going to school he still finds time for training and fine tuning his Kart in order to compete and be competitive in Italy, this shows his complete dedication and he is very highly motivated and I believe has higher aims for the future, thank god he has his family working so hard to see there child participating in Motorsports in Italy and FLYING THE MALTESE FLAG SO HIGH. i would like to take this opportunity to make the Government aware for more financial aid for these young Ambassadors, our country needs to have a wide range of were these young children can practice there sport and those that compete abroad should be helped financially like any other sport, children love sports and not all children like Football, we must let them choose there own sports and support them in every way. After all they are the Ambassadors for the MALTESE ISLANDS. Again proset to Gianluca Dingli.

Prosit Gian Luca. Prosit Wayne. Prosit to the whole family team because I know the effort they put into all this.
Gian Luca is one of quite a few young Maltese drivers with great potential, but unfortunately I see no sign of any backing from the local autorities, either in the report, or on his equipment. This is unfortunately the same old story, and this is what makes the Dingli family's efforts so much more important. Hopefully they, as well as other young hopefuls, will find the backing necessary to compete abroad from other sources once Government still seems unwilling to help local motorsport enhusiasts like it helps other sports.
