The image of Our Lady Ta' Pinu is this morning being venerated at Mosta rotunda church.

The painting was taken to Mosta yesterday after a procession from Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church in Valletta to City Gate.

Several groups of school children will be taken to Mosta this morning to pray before Our Lady.

A pilgrimage will be held this afternoon leaving Mosta for the Mellieha sanctuary at 3 p.m., symbolically bringing together the two most important Marian shrines of Malta and Gozo.

The pilgrimage, accompanied by a carcade, will be led by Archbishop Paul Cremona and Apostolic Nuncio Tommaso Caputo.

At about 4.30 p.m. the image and the pilgrims are expected to board the Gozo Channel vessel Ta' Pinu for Mgarr in Gozo, where they will be met by Gozo bishop Mario Grech and Gozitans who will continue with a pilgrimage to Ta' Pinu Sanctuary, going through Ghajnsielem, Xewkija, Victoria and Ghasri.

The painting was brought to Malta for the papal Mass last Sunday.
