Lyceum bicycle marathon a success

I write on behalf of the Association of Lyceum Past Students (ALPS) with regard to the tremendous success achieved during the 50-hour long Lyceum Bicycle Marathon held between April 9-11 at The Lyceum, in Ħamrun. Proceeds from this year's marathon are in aid of Dar tal-Providenza and The Malta Hospice Movement (Rachael Theuma, April 19).

The ALPS council and, indeed, all the association members feel exceptionally proud to have lent a helping hand in such a philanthropic event. On a number of occasions we have collaborated with the Lyceum Bicycle Marathon committee in various ways to ensure the continued success of said event.

Various activities that were held during the past year by ALPS members and friends helped in raising funds for this yearly event. Lyceum teachers and present and past Lyceum students of varying ages join forces and work together with a most enthusiastic organising committee to achieve the greatest success in collecting thousands of euros for a good and noble cause.

In 2009, the ALPS celebrated its 15th anniversary of foundation in 1994. It has spread out and now has branches in Australia, Canada and the US and continues to welcome all Lyceum past students who join as members and participate in the various social, cultural and civic activities. It even holds an annual reunion during the month of October for all past students (members and non-members of ALPS).
