Mosley attacks Ferrari chief

Former FIA president Max Mosley has launched a remarkable attack on Ferrari and their president Luca di Montezemolo, describing him as "a weak character".

Mosley, who has now been retired from his post for six months, has criticised Di Montezemolo after dismissing suggestions the FIA favoured Ferrari during his time in office.

"Luca is very, very good with people and he's certainly a very personable, pleasant person," said Mosley.

"But in my opinion he's also a very weak character, so he's easily led."

Responding to a reader's question in the May edition of F1 Racing, Mosley also claims Ferrari would "fail" is they competed on an equal financial footing with the other teams.

Mosley last year found himself at war with the teams, including Di Montezemolo and Ferrari, regarding proposals for a budget cap and the possibility of a breakaway series.

"We had a series of meetings and everyone was agreed on the cost cap and the methodology, but Ferrari were always against it," added Mosley.

"I think it's because they know that if they had the same amount of money to spend as the other teams, they would fail."
