Vandalism in Sliema

Vandals struck at the Independence Gardens playground in Sliema on Tuesday night, breaking wooden animals and causing €2,500 worth of damage. Mayor Nikki Dimech said different parts of the seaside town were often vandalised, averaging around three times a week. The council reported the incident to the police.

These public ares need CCTV.
Set up several CCTV cameras on high poles at location prone to vandalism theft etc, and have a remote recording centre in the police station for all the images. After an incident the police review the playback images and act accordingly.

Wow
these wooden animals cost that much €2500. No wonder the local councils are always short of money. Whit that amount of money one would buy a truck full of timber.
