Three policemen who had faced assault charges were cleared by a court today.

Constables Oliver Micallef, 23, of Għarb and Robert Mario Spiteri, 28, of Attard, were yesterday accused of beating up 22-year-old Trevor Ciangura inside the St Julians station in an allegedly unprovoked attack. 48-year-old Sergeant Joseph Pace of Swieqi was accused of being an accomplice.

All denied the charges and officers who were in the station gave a different version of events to that by Mr Ciangura.
