Works along Melita and Strait street in Valletta have resumed, Transport Malta said.

It said the works were temporarily suspended late last month following the unearthing of material designated by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage as being of archaeological significance.

The Superintendence had ordered the contractor to suspend the excavation works pending the completion of all necessary investigations, surveys and studies on the findings.

It has now provided the contractor with a works-method statement to enable the necessary works to proceed as planned.
