There were mixed performances by the 7 active equities during this morning’s session on the Borza.
Bank of Valletta plc and Malta International Airport plc were today’s positive performers with gains of 0.3% and 1% respectively. BOV’s share price touched a high of €3.325 on increased demand ahead of the 2010 interim results publication due on Friday 30 April before ending the session at €3.30.
MIA also touched an intra-day high of €3.15 before closing at the €3.13 level. Medserv plc closed the day unchanged but over 25,000 shares traded again at its all-time high of €4.30 following the recent 2009 results publication showing a substantial improvement in profitability over the previous year. Today was also the last day for investors to gain entitlement to the net dividend of €0.135 per share.
Meanwhile Lombard Bank Malta plc slumped 3.1% to a new 2010 low of €2.86 on low volumes amounting to only 1,900 shares. HSBC Bank Malta plc closed unchanged at the €3.05 level after touching a new low of €3.01 at the start of the day.
High trading activity was again evident in the equity of MaltaPost plc. Almost 70,000 shares traded with the share price maintaining yesterday’s 2010 high of €0.81 for most of the day before closing 1.2% lower at €0.80.
On the bond market, the recently listed 6.25% International Hotel Investments plc 2017-2020 bonds jumped 155 basis points to 101.55%. The 4.8% Bank of Valletta plc bonds also gained 50 basis points to regain their all time high of 102.50%.
