Health Minister Joseph Cassar said that in the extension plans for Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery, space would be allocated for the building of a crematorium.

He told Anthony Agius Decelis (PL) that the government did not have any intention of building or administering a crematorium at this stage. Private requests for the administering and building of the crematoriums would be considered.
