Current work on an extension of Addolorata Cemetery will only cater for half of the waiting list for the purchase of graves.

Information given in parliament by Health Minister Joseph Cassar shows that while there are 4,029 applications for the purchase of graves, the current phase of the extension project will only involve the building of 2,000 graves. The graves will be sold to the oldest applications first.

The work is currently in the excavation phase.

A site has also been earmarked for a crematorium, although the governemnt does not intend to build or operate one.
