There have been 23 cases since 2006 where the transport authority paid compensation for damages caused to vehicles because of the state of the roads.

Transport Minister Austin Gatt said in reply to a parliamentary question that since 2006, 287 claims for compensation were made. In 106 cases, the authority requested further information from the applicants.

Of the remainder, the authority paid compensation in 23 cases. Ten claims were turned down and 148 are under consideration.
