Fourth-year University architecture students François Mangion, Marcia Calleja, Mark Sullivan, Katia Pace, and Paula Agius have each been presented with the Tony Mifsud Architecture Award.

The awards were organised by conservation and environment group Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar (FAA) in conjunction with the University's Faculty of Architecture and sponsored by the US Embassy.

All the department students' project work was put on public display at St George's Square, Valletta.

During the presentation, US Ambassador Douglas Kmiec said the awards reflect FAA's commitment to promote an appreciation of high quality sustainable architecture, including modern architecture which, with the right sensitivity and interpretation, could harmonise even with an old city like Valletta.
