Melita has unveiled its new television channel line-up with the total number of channels increasing to 140. Another 10 HD channels will be launched shortly, bringing the total channels on the Melita platform to 150.

Last Thursday, Melita premiered 42 new and exclusive channels across its three television packages. Each subscriber now benefits from a number of additional channels, depending on the package subscribed to.

The channels range from lifestyle to children, sports, variety, and knowledge and are available to subscribers at no extra cost. The set top box was automatically updated to include these new channels. If the set top box was switched off at the time of update, the system will prompt the user to download new software the first time the box is switched on.

Subscribers to the M package now enjoy a total of 38 channels, including new offerings like RAI Storia, RAI Med, Yes Italia, Mediterraneo, Shopping TV, Media Shopping, Day Star Network, Mondo Shop, Kids Co, DeeJay and Physique TV.

The L package has been enhanced with the addition of Wedding TV, Luxe TV and France 2 in addition to the new channels added to the M package, raising the amount of channels on the L package to 80.

The new line-up features 140 channels on the XL package, including a host of other highly popular offerings, such as Jimmy, Lei, Leonardo, I-Concerts, Alice, Movies4Men, Cielo, Marco Polo, Dove TV, Horse and Country TV, High Life TV, Art, Net Geo Adventure, Baby TV, Trace Tropical, C Music, iConcerts, Live!, BVN Europa, RTR Planeta, ShowTurk, Dubai One, LBC Europe, Smart Live Casino and Nuvolari.

"We are restructuring our TV product altogether, increasing channels across all packages at no extra cost to the customer. Melita launched nine new TV channels, including the highly popular Investigation Discovery, children's channel Jim Jam, NatGeo Music and Film 24. We promised an explosion of content to subscribers and this is what we are delivering," said Ivor Micallef, Melita's TV product manager.

Melita will also be launching High Definition ahead of the FIFA 2010 World Cup. Advanced digital TV services are also being made available to provide a personalised television experience and video on demand.
