As Alex Ferguson had predicted midway through the 2007-08 Premier League campaign, the crown was wrapped up on the final day of the season.
It was a battle between the Red Devils and Chelsea, managed by Avram Grant in his debut season.
Grant took charge at Stamford Bridge on September 20 following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
United took over from Arsenal at the top on March 15. They stayed at the summit with Chelsea breathing down their necks to the final encounter. United totalled 87 points, two more than Chelsea and four ahead of Arsenal.
Although Chelsea finished runners-up, they only climbed to the top on one occasion, early in the season on August 25 when only four matches were played.
This was indeed a special occasion for Manchester United, clinching their 10th Premier League crown. They had also been crowned champions of England seven other times for a total of 17 − just one less of Liverpool's all-time haul at the time.
Since the start of the Premier League in 1992-93 this was the fifth time that United had claimed back-to-back championship crowns.
Thanks to this championship medal, Ryan Giggs went on to top the all-time individual honours with 10 league titles. During the 2007-08 campaign, Giggs also equalled Bobby Charlton's club record appearances of 758 games when he came off the bench to score in the 2-0 win at Wigan, sealing the Premier League crown.
Manchester United's goal difference of +58 was the best ever recorded in a Premier League season, beating the old record set by Chelsea in the 2004-05 season.
