A jury this morning found Libyan national Hesham Mohammed Shabosh, 34, not guilty of the attempted murder of Tunisian Omar Mohammed Baccoouche outside the Mosque in Paola in an incident in October 2004.

The jury found that although the accused had caused serious injury to Mr Baccoouche when he hit him with a trowel, he had acted in self defence.

Mr Shabosh had during the trial admitted to hitting Mr Baccoouche with a trowel. He said he had intervened after he saw him arguing with his uncle and swinging a wooden stick at him.

The argument started after complaints of child school bullying.
