Shipping giant Norasia is to use Malta Freeport as a Mediterranean hub, shipping some 350,000 containers through Malta, the company said.

It said several Norasia vessels would be calling every week on transhipment operations starting with the VM Jura on April 17.

The company said Norasia, which is no newcomer to Malta, was attracted to use the freeport as a hub, as a result of investment in machinery at the Freeport and the extension of Terminal One.

Malta Freeport last year handled 2.26 million TEUs (containers).
