Our data have to remain private
Facebook intends to change their terms and conditions thus allowing itself to transmit the data of their customers to third parties and partner companies. This is not acceptable and Facebook users should be informed to whom the company intends to pass them. Also, should the user be asked for authorisation every time the company intends to forward this information?
Social networks like Facebook. MySpace or Linkedin at the end of the day collect data from their customers and it remains a mystery to the end-user about their final usage.
As long as the explicit authorisation to pass private end-user data to a third party is not implemented, I would recommend not to use these social networks or to replace your personal information with fictive data. For goodness sake people. The internet is safe if used properly. First, learn how to use the computer, then how to protect your information about yourself. Then use the internet. STOP being as naive in the bigger world as you are in your own home.

Better still, get out a bit more and make some real friends instead of Facebook "friends" whom you may never meet.

Facebook is ridiculous and dangerous The few weeks I held my account, I realised how foolish it is for some people to post certain comments about themselves. The written word is much more powerful than the spoken one and own comments on facebook can and will effect people's perception about yourself and will slowly paint a picture of what a person really is. It is like a virtual DNA profile of one's social life. I see it as a live CV of oneself. Once something is posted it cannot be deleted and facebook can use that information however the administrators want with no liability. After all the internet is global and accessible to all.

The simple answer to this is, if you value your privacy don't use Facebook.
