Ryanair seeks possession of journalist's apartment
Low-cost airline Ryanair said today that it was seeking possession of a flat belonging to The Telegraph journalist Bryony Gordon after she wagered them (in an article dated 7th Apr), against anyone who could show that Ryanair passengers enjoyed their flights.
In her article in the UK daily, Bryony said, 'you never hear anybody casually mention that they have just flown with Ryanair, and that they really enjoyed it. I am willing to bet my flat and its contents that nobody has ever said the words "Ryanair", "marvellous" and "service" in the same sentence'.
Ryanair said it receives thousands of letters each year from satisfied customers and publishes a small selection of these satisfaction letters on its website at http://www.ryanair.com/ie/about/customer-feedback .
"Ryanair has provided Bryony with the details of these web-pages and is now seeking the keys to her apartment.
Ryanair's Stephen McNamara said, "Ryanair is now seeking possession of the 'flat and contents' of Telegraph journalist Bryony Gordon since her claims that Ryanair passengers have never complimented our industry leading service are clearly false. Unfortunately for Bryony she overlooked the fact that Ryanair is the world's favourite airline and provides the best on-time, baggage and flight completion performance of any major European airline, while also offering Europe's guaranteed lowest fares.
"Ryanair will grow to 73 million passengers this year thanks to our industry leading customer service and we look forward to receiving the keys to Bryony's 'flat and contents' in due course".

Just last month we've had to fly Ryanair for the first time, since they're the only airline that operate direct flights to Dublin. We can only complain that the seats are rather uncomfortable for long journeys (3h 35 m to Dublin) and the 15 kilo suitcase limitation makes you paranoid (considering we went for a 10 day drive tour...and I hate carrying hand luggage!). But otherwise, we were rather satisfied with the overall experience - I wouldn't say "marvellous service" but for €420 for 3 adults, ALL charges & taxes included, we thought it was rather a fair deal (compared to other alternatives with connecting flights at €800 - €1000 for 3 adults!) Would we consider travelling again with Ryanair? YES.

I travelled with my family (with young children) frequently with Ryanair and was always offered wonderful service, not less than other costly airlines. The flights were always on time or arrived in anticipation and had no trouble with luggages etc (as I often had with other airlines). Thank you Ryanair for offering the Bari route and ty for increasing various routes. Regarding the fees for snacks onboard, i prefer paying 4-5euro for a snack than 200 Euro or more int he airfare, just for the sake of being given a snack and maybe the newspaper!!!

I have travelled the first time with Ryan Air last mouth and the flight was excellent. Thanks to all the crew and you have gained a new customer... Arrived to the UK 40minutes before and Arrived back in Malta 25minutes before. Thats what a good company makes more publicity.
Once again Thanks Ryan Air and you gained me as a new customer

@ Kristal Camilerri Murison -
Hi Kris, you're absolutley correct! If one follows Ryanair's publicity stunts one would realise its all about cheap but clever marketing. Haha - its a great story though!

We have flown to Malta over many years with different airlines - since Ryanair commenced flights to Malta we have increased our visits - three times between October & March so far this year. We will continue to do so providing that the air fares remain as attractive. More so now that they have come even closer to us and flying from Bournemouth. We have tried to fly from Exeter with a different airline but the charges were very expensive therefore we didn't bother. Had it not been to the attractive Ryanair air fares we would simply won't be able to travel as often. We feel that we get great value for our money - getting us from A to B safely and on time all the time!

They are the mem who mean business with a smile. Local industry should learn from these people. They are not doing any thing which we cannot follow,we have to understand what our customer want, and not the compamy wants to impose on us.The end product is the same, Profit.

Well done Ryanair! We always fly with them when we visit the UK. they are on time, the staff are friendly and helpful, the aircraft are clean. What more do people want? If you want luxury, then go and pay for it; but personally I would rather spend my hard earned cash on more important things.

Just a free publicity stunt. The journalist is right. There is nothing "marvelous" about the "service". It is just cheap, moneywise (sometimes) and otherwise (all the time), when all goes well. When it doesn't, and shit happens, you are on your own with nobody to complain to and it will set you back the figure saved on your previous (if any) trips. Low cost are OK by me but, call me snobbish, not Ryanair.

I have flown Ryanair a few times on the Bournemouth-Alicante route and agreed it is a no frills service but at least it was on time on every occasion.
I have flown to Malta many times over the past 30 years using various airlines, some no longer in existance, but most recently BA or Air Malta which meant a trip to LHR or LGW.
Next week I will be using Ryanair as they have recently added the Bournemouth-Malta route which I will use in the future as it saves so much travelling time. All I want from a short haul flight is arriving safely and on time.

Bwahahaha!!!! Ryanair is what it is - an airline that gets the job done cheaply - which is good - but that's a far cry from "world's favourite airline".

Exactly. It's like Maxims or McDonalds claiming that they the worlds favorite 'restaurant', rather than a fast-food corner shop/burger joint.

Dear V Vella,
Since u Never flew with Ryanair better refrain from Commenting and making a fool of yourself!
I used Ryanair several times and see no problem in keep on doing so. I was never charged any hidden fee or for using toilets! (You are assuming since u never used Ryanair).
So get to facts and buy yourself a late Easter present and buy a flight with Ryanair to see for yourself. If you dont like the idea keep on eating your Figolli and Eggs and let other people make use of this excellent service! I never had any lost luggage of delays.
WELL DONE to Ryanair! Keep up the Excellent and Marvelous Service ;)

Anyone paying above what Ryanair charges for flights from the UK to Malta has more money than sense. The journey is like a medium length train journey. V.Vella, your comments are absurd. Anyone travelling with Ryan Air is a coach passenger whom just wants to get from A to B as cheaply as possible, the flight is un- important unless you intend to take your vacation on the plane or hold a business meeting on the plane - LOL.
V. Vella, a fool and his money!

If you need to go from A to B quickly and without emptying your pocket ... if you can navigate the cost creep of cc charges, checking luggage, priority etc... then Ryan Air is better than Ok. Marvellous, stupendous, excellent .... maybe not; but then again if you want a limo pay for a limo... if a bus could do why spend the cash.?

Why is it that some people in Malta seem to have it in for Ryanair or any other low-cost airline. Are they trying to appear as snobs and that they wouldnt fly with the plebs? Low cost airlines make no promises they cant keep except to take you from A to B at what is usually , but not always, the cheapest fare. This is very different from the rest who promise a lot and deliver so little.

This weekend will mark my 11th flight during 2010 - 9 of these flights were with RyanAir. I choose them for several reasons, including the fact that I don't need to pay for luggage I'm not taking on the flight, I can fly direct into Scotland without stopovers, and so far my most expensive return, including so called hidden charges, was just shy of €140. People are biased when flying low-cost. The way I see it, if you don't like it, don't fly with them - nobody's forcing you! But please, let the rest of us enjoy these services.

Sure, go with them as much as you please, BUT I object to my government paying half of your fare from my taxes.
This is what is so unfair about Ryanair's operation to/from Malta. This is not to mention the subsidies they receive from the other airports abroad. The scenario couldn't be more unbalanced in their favour. This "low cost at any cost" pampering by our Government has to stop before it is too late.

I never flown Ryanair. The name Ryanair is attached to standard low cost airlines where it is impossible to state the words 'marvellous' or 'service'. Passengers on Ryanair flights are just a number as when one travells by bus from Valletta to Mellieha. The airline earns money by charging many hidden costs better known ancillery revenue. The airline rates people so low that it wanted to charge passengers when they use the toilets. This is rediculous. The airline wanted to abstain its passengers from the low base physiological needs. Everybody knows the leadership of O'Leary. Ryanair has rendered the airline industry to a commodity , cheap objective strategy. If Ryanair does not upgrade its low cost strategy it would be considered as oil is to car. In fact recently it tried to help British Airways when its 12,000 cabin crew staff were on strike. By any means British Airways is not a low cost airline, but O'leary is already thinking that its present low cost strategy has to change to make Ryanair really 'marvellous' and can give an adequate service by building relationship with customers to ensure its long term strategy. Ryanair is still in its tactical stage.

Never mind like it or enjoy it, I love it for many reasons. Excellent multinational crews, new planes, on time all the time and most of all I can go on 3 trips a year instead of one. Confiscate that apartement , sell it, and donate the proceeds to animal welfare.

Haha .... thumbs up on this one. I personally have flown with ryanair just once. I cannot say it was a 'marvellous' experience, because it was a normal routine flight from Malta to Spain. But yes, the flight was smooth and on time, and considering i had paid only about 60 euros including the return, i was satisfied with the experience and will surely consider ryanair for future travels.
