Mediterranean Bank plc, the Maltese bank offering wealth management, savings and investment products, is currently engaged in a media campaign to unveil its new corporate identity.
Valletta-based Mediterranean Bank was first established in 2004 and licensed by the MFSA in 2005, to offer private banking. It was acquired by AnaCap Financial Partners, the European private equity firm that specialises in the financial services sector, last July.
Under new management the bank increased its capital substantially and built a strong team blending international expertise with some of the best local banking professionals.
Extensive research and development was undertaken by Lighthouse Group to develop an image which faithfully projected the bank's character and vision. The symbol depicts a form evocative of ancient Phoenician trading vessels, the predecessors of latter day boats which can be found in their various iterations around the Mediterranean basin.
To the Maltese, it is the luzzu or dgħajsa, but many variants of the same design are typical of Spain, Italy, Greece, France and North Africa, embracing maritime civilisations of seafaring people who prospered from trade and commerce over the millennia.
The re-branding process is now nearing completion and the bank will shortly be launching its new website which will provide clients and users with updated information on investment and savings products, interest rates and other useful pages.
Mediterranean Bank operates under the depositor compensation scheme established under the Laws of Malta. Mediterranean Bank plc, is licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority under the Banking Act (1994) and the Financial Services Act (1994).
