Malta and Montenegro have signed a protocol implementing an agreement between the European Community and Montenegro on the re-admission of people residing without authorisation and an investment guarantee agreement.

The agreements were signed by Foreign Affairs Minister Tonio Borg and his Montenegrin counterpart, Milan Rochen bringing the number of agreements between Malta and Montenegro to four. The two countries have already signed agreements on diplomatic relations and double taxation.

Dr Borg said the signing of the protocol was a sign of Malta's support of Montenegro's EU perspective. He added that the investment guarantee agreement would help promote greater investment flows between two countries and encouraged investors to take advantage of this new opportunity.
