Euroceanica (UK) Ltd is to register most of its chemical units in Malta in a bid to harmonise its fleet and operating efficiencies, the company announced on Tuesday.
The London-based company owns and operates a fleet of 14 chemical tankers and two panamax dry cargo bulk vessels.
It is part of the Rimorchiatori Riuniti Group of Genoa which also owns Tug Malta Ltd. All the seven tug boats operated by Tug Malta Ltd are registered under the Malta flag.
The vessels which have already been transferred are the Crystal Atlantica and the Crystal Ambra (which previously flew the Italian flag). The Crystal Skye and the Crystal Amaranto (ex-UK flag) are to be reflagged imminently.
The Crystal Diamond, Crystal Topaz, Crystal Amethyst, Crystal Emerald and Crystal Pearl (all ex-Luxembourg flag) will be registered in Malta in the next few months, so that the re-flagging operation will be complete by early summer.
