Hundreds peep at the past on Spanish galleon

A steady stream of people toured the replica 17th century Spanish galleon Andalucia, berthed between two large cruise liners at Valletta Waterfront today, and they were not disappointed.

The ship was built after extensive research into shipbuilding methods of the time and comes complete with cannons between decks.

The crew, like their ancestors, lack modern day comforts such as hot water on tap, but there are a few modern add ons, such as propellers under the stern and computers to help in navigation.

The ship is being sailed around the world and will promote Andalucia at the World Expo in Shanghai.

The ship remains open till 7 p.m.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I think that the perfect spot for this project would be the Number 1 Dock at Bormla. There are even big warehouses on the side of this dock that can easily be converted into halls where audiovisual displays can be projected.
