Gozo parish priests in statement of support for Pope

The parish priests of Gozo in a statement today reiterated their support to Pope Benedict and renewed their loyalty to him 'in these moments of difficulty".

In a brief statement which never actually mentioned the child sex scandals the Church has become embroiled in, the College of Parish Priests said that it met this morning under the presidency of Bishop Mario Grech.

"On behalf of the parish communities which they represent, the parish priests express their love to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI and renew their loyalty to him as the Vicar of Christ and head of the Church in these difficult moments. They appeal to the people of God, who are awaiting his apostolic visit, to pray for him and make him welcome," the College said.
