Obituary
AMATO GAUCI. On April 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, PHILIP, aged 70, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Mother Church, deeply mourned by his loving wife Victoria, nèe Pace, his beloved children Mariella, Christianne, Louis, Joseph, Tanya, Andrew, Francesca and Philip and their respective spouses or partners. He will also be sadly missed by his dear grandchildren Michael, Steven, Melissa, Patrick, Matthew, Daniel, Jonathan, Jayna, Aidan, Kylie and Ava Mariella. Also mourning Philip are his sisters, Terry Gera and Jean Soler, his aunt the Noble Lucy Bencini Testaferrata, his in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
FARRUGIA. On April 4, at Dar tal-Kleru residence in Birkirkara, Fr CARMELO FARRUGIA, of Attard, aged 86, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his brother Joseph and his wife Miriam, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends, among them the members of the Legion of Mary. The funeral leaves Dar tal-Kleru residence in Birkirkara today at 12.30 p.m. for St Anne chapel in Attard, where mourners will be able to pay their last respects. The funeral will then proceed to St Mary parish church in Attard where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Kleru residence in Birkirkara will be greatly appreciated. Special thanks go to the management, sisters and carers of Dar tal-Kleru residence. The family regrets they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
MICELI. On April 3, at Mater Dei Hospital, PAUL of Birkirkara, aged 89, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Mother Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Antonia, née Testa, his children Joe and his wife Gemma, Nora and her husband Karmenu, Vincent, Cecilia and her husband Christopher, his brothers and sisters, in-laws, Pauline and her husband Alex, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for the Carmelite church, Fleur-de-Lys, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Archbishop's Seminary will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
VELLA. On April 5, CONNIE, nèe Debono, aged 60, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Mario, her sisters Elise and her husband Joseph, Dr Gino Abela MD, widower of her sister Cecilia, Helen and her husband Paul, Antoinette, her brother Moses and his wife Lydia, her in-laws George and his wife Rose, Lino and his wife Lina, Charles and his wife Pauline, Joe and his wife Adelaide, Tony and his wife Anna, Connie and her husband Tony, Vince and his wife Elizabeth, nephews and nieces other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves her residence in Birkirkara today at 8.45 a.m. for St Theresa Sanctuary, Birkirkara, where a mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.15 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Punic Roman Malta
A lecture by Fr Eugene Teuma titled Punic Roman Malta - A Working Hypothesis will shed new light on ancient Melita. The lecture, organised by Din l-Art Ħelwa, will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. at 133, Melita Str, Valletta. Admission is free but donations to Din l-Art Ħelwa ongoing restoration programmes would be appreciated.
