The GWU said today that it expected the investigation into last Friday's power cut to be a serious one, conducted by independent people.
"The GWU is not prepared to accept an investigation carried out internally, as is happening, by people who might be responsible for the decisions taken by their subordinates," the union said.
The union said this was not the first time that the finger of suspicion was pointed at the workers, instead of the workers being praised for restoring the power supply as quickly as possible.
Such attempts were only meant to make the workers look inefficient while the government continued to hide the real inefficiency in the management of Enemalta, the union said.
It said that it was therefore deploring any attempts to blame the workers for the outage and it renewed its support to all those who worked hard to provide such an essential service to the country.
