Secondary school launches aero club
St Nicholas College Mtarfa Boys' Secondary School has launched an aero club, which aims to promote and foster an aeronautical culture among students.
Membership is limited to 15 students to allow for a gradual expansion of activities before accommodating a larger number. The school has teamed up with Diamond Flight Training to offer each member of the aero club a trial flight at a nominal cost. This will allow students the opportunity to experience what aviation entails.
Head of school Jean Pierre Micallef said that in an economy which is quickly evolving, embracing new concepts and exposing students to diversified learning is key to the success of any educational institution.

Fly high boys, in whatever you do. Malta needs high fliers. Unfortunately in our schools we give a substantial amount of attention and assistance to the weaker students and with many facilitators , there is substantial financing in this respect, there is nothing wrong of course. However in Malta there is nothing equivalent to that in assisting high fliers to fly higher. In fact my experience indicates that high fliers in a class of low achieving student had resulted in the high fliers getting bored and landing in mischevious activities due to the slow and the boring lessons, with up to five echoes of the facilitators repeating what the teacher had said. I do not want to go into any arguments but the economy of our land has to be earned by the high fliers and they should be respected as much as the low fliers.
So Good luck on this venture, but please do not restrict the high flying to reaching the clouds and look after your earthly studies and do your best to navigate all your mental and physical talents.
