Would the minister responsible for the local councils officially update the residents of Qawra and Buġibba on the real reason why in the recent hamlet committees elections, he is ignoring their plight and has not designated a civic council for this community of 8,500 permanent residents?
Qawra and Buġibba have now fallen into a state of total dereliction. The St Paul's Bay council constantly claims that it has no funds, which incidentally is very difficult for anyone with an iota of common sense to accept. It had enough funds to squander thousands of euros on the now nationally famous folly, the Sirens toilets.
A council for Qawra and Buġibba would make sure that all funds were wisely spent and went towards repairing some of the facilities that have been allowed to crumble away over the years.
The residents of these two localities are seriously concerned that the real reason why they are being ignored is because the present Administration is afraid that it will lose its political stronghold in this district, and hence the residents of Qawra and Buġibba have now found themselves being used as political pawns by the politicians whose main concern is their political party and not the voters who voted them into power and whom they are supposed to serve equally.
An official policy statement by the minister responsible would be appreciated!
