GRTU expels Sandro Chetcuti

The GRTU said today that it had expelled council member Sandro Chetcuti, who stands accused of the attempted murder of Director-General Vince Farrugia.

The GRTU said the decision was taken unanimously by its council following Mr Farrugia's sworn evidence in court last week and the accounts of its president and other council members.

The GRTU said the assault on Mr Farrugia was unprecedented and was to be condemned especially because it was carried out by a person who held an executive position within the organisation and should therefore set an example.
