Man jailed for scratching car, jumping bail twice
A man who scratched the car of his daughter's boyfriend and then jumped bail twice who today jailed for 18 months.
Leandro Ambrogio, 45, an Italian who lives in Marsascala, had admitted early in the proceedings to have damaged the car belonging to Victor Falzon, 49, because he did not wish to have his daughter going out with a much older man. He caused damages of €1,164.
Mr Ambrogio had been granted bail until sentencing, but had not turned up for his next court appointment. The police later discovered that he had gone to Italy. He then returned to Malta and was re-arrested and charged with breaking bail conditions.
He was granted bail again and travelled abroad once more. A European arrest warrant was issued, and he was held in Italy and transferred to Malta.
In handing down sentence, the court said that while the accused had admitted the charges, he had subsequently escaped from Malta while proceedings were under way and a European Arrest Warrant even had to be issued. The accused was also a relapser and therefore, am effective prison term was appropriate,

@C Cassar,
If the daughter is under-age it is her father's business!
If she's 18+ he can either accept it or else throw her out, still I believe he acted in his daughter's best interest!

C Cassar, whatever you are male or female? You do not even know who this man is yet you say that he was a danger to his daughter. I would like to know what you would do if you had a daughter, who's age would probably be in the 18-25 range, who's boyfriend would reach pension age in 10 year's time.

It's funny how if a 19 year old boy goes out with a 16 year old he's classified as a paedophile and rapist; if a man is 60 and going out with an 18 year old, then that's OK!!!

The guy is 49 years old and the girl's age isn't mentioned. Even if she was 18 or whatever, her relationship with her partner is no ones business not even her father's business. Still, at least now they can be left in piece to enjoy their relationship now that the girl's father is put away for 18 months. It looks like the only person who was a danger to the girl was her own father in this case. Now that problem has been nicely solved.
