Denni inspires Rainbows to derby victory

Tarxien Rainbows grabbed their first victory in this season’s Championship Pool when they beat champions Hibernians 2-0 at the National Stadium this afternoon.

Denni Rocha Dos Santos was the architect was the architect behind the Rainbows’s derby victory when he netted both goals. The Brazilian livewire put the Rainbows ahead after 22 minutes with a fine strike when he dribbled his way past several Hibs defender before depositing the ball past a helpless Mario Muscat.

Tarxien could have doubled their lead on 59 minutes when they were awarded a penalty when Gianluca Calabretta was held back by Adrian Pulis inside the area. The Hibs defender was subsequently dismissed but from the resultant penalty Denni saw his shot blocked by Muscat.

However, the Brazilian made amends three minutes from time when Mark Tanti picked up Denni who unleashed a powerful drive that flew past Muscat.
