The passion play L-Imsallab fi Triqatna by L-Għaqda Dilettanti Ġimgħa l-Kbira - Għawdex was held last Saturday week. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the group's first passion play.
The play started from the Don Bosco Oratory and proceeded through the streets of Victoria, where episodes from the last days of Christ were held in various stations culminating in the Sanhedrin process and trial before Pilate in Republic Street and the crucifixion beneath the Citadel bastions.
Taking part in the pageant, under the direction of George Cassar, were Gordon Grech in the role of Jesus, Jamie Camilleri (Malchus), Carmel Camilleri (Pontius Pilate), Franco Azzopardi (Herod), Carmel Theuma (Peter), Josmar Saliba (John), Joseph Tabone (Annas) and Saviour Cremona (Caiaphas), Nicholas Vella (Judas Iscariot), Ruth Portelli (Mary) and Lara Cutajar (Veronica).
Actors from St Philip Band Club, Żebbuġ, and a group of Roman soldiers from Luqa also took part.
