The audience at today's show of Painting By Numbers will include a member who will certainly be more keen than anybody else in seeing how the comedy is performed: its author Simon Mawdsley.

Mr Mawdsley flew in purposely yesterday and is expected to leave tomorrow after attending the performance at St James Cavalier, Valletta.

Masquerade said this was the first time the play was being performed outside the UK and also being directed by a different director other than the author himself.

Mr Mawdsley wrote the original version of Painting By Numbers in 1997.

The comedy, directed by Anthony Bezzina and featuring actors Malcolm Galea, Alan Paris, Paul Portelli and Edward Degaetano, will be presented at St James daily between today and Sunday at 8 p.m.
